A national survey by The Conversation Project found that the majority of Americans – up to 90% – believe that talking about end-of-life care with loved ones is important, yet under 30% have taken that step.

We are all celebrating the holiday season in different ways, and for many, a common thread is gathering with friends and family, and showing we care. Discussing health care and end-of-life wishes, and making your wishes known ahead of time, is one of the greatest gifts you can give your loved ones.

These conversations ensure that a plan is created that reflects the care you want at the end of life. Sharing your thoughts creates a guide for your family and friends if and when they need to make decisions on your behalf. Planning in advance gives you an opportunity to think about what you want for the future and ensures that your wishes will be carried out.
