Caregivers are Hospice By The Bay's most important partners in care. Family members who become a loved one's caregiver find the experience deeply moving and rewarding. Caregivers often spend more time connecting with their loved ones. Caregivers also work with Hospice By The Bay to see that their loved one's needs are met and their loved one's decisions about care are honored.
Along with the rich rewards, caring for another person can be physically and emotionally demanding. Those demands and the grief that comes when a loved one is ill can make a challenging time more stressful. That's why it's so important -- we'd say essential -- that caregivers take good care of themselves. That's why our Team includes support for caregivers and other family members as a priority.
Here's how Hospice By The Bay supports caregivers:
The Hospice Team: Know that you can talk with members of the Team about your feelings and concerns. We give you the caregiving education and training you need, as well other kinds of emotional, spiritual and practical support, including respite time so you can take a break. If needed, we can suggest community resources that offer support. Click on the link to get a list of our Hospice Team members and how they can help.
