Our programs -- including hospice care, pediatric care, palliative services and grief counseling -- are open to residents of Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo and Sonoma counties. We care for patients, families and community members of any age, race, national origin, religion or sexual orientation.
Hospice Care Patients must:
be certified by a physician that they have a life-limiting illness and a prognosis of six months or less,*
and make the decision to seek hospice care and forego some forms of aggressive treatment for their condition.
*Patients may continue to receive hospice care longer than six months as long as a doctor continues to certify that their illness is still life-limiting.
Hospice By The Bay sees patients with life-limiting diagnoses such as: dementia, heart disease, stroke, pulmonary disease, renal failure, cancer, liver disease, ALS and HIV. Patients may have a family member or friend as a primary caregiver, or be managing their care on their own.
Pediatric Care The families of children and teens who have life-threatening illnesses are eligible for this specialized care when referred by a physician. Call us, as we review the needs of each child on a case-by-case basis.
Palliative Care Patients at Marin General Hospital and Novato Community Hospital in Marin County, who have a chronic or life-threatening illness, are eligible. Referrals can be made by the patient, family members or a physician.
Grief Counseling Family members with a loved one in Hospice By The Bay's care and all community members coping with loss can seek support from Hospice By The Bay's professional counselors.
