Hospice, Palliative & Pediatric Care Hospice By The Bay's patients and their families generally have little or no out-of-pocket costs for care. Payment is most commonly through reimbursement by Medicare, Medi-Cal or private insurance. Charges for care to the patient and family are few or none at all. As a non-profit hospice, Hospice By The Bay will never turn a patient away because of personal circumstance or inability to pay.
Medicare Hospice Benefit:Medicare provides beneficiaries with a hospice benefit that covers most aspects of care. Medicare beneficiaries use Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) for hospice services.
Medi-Cal Hospice Benefit: Medi-Cal offers a comparable, inclusive benefit to the Medicare Hospice Benefit described above.
Private Insurance, including Kaiser: Private insurance companies offer similar hospice benefits. A small co-payment for services may be required, depending on the insurance provider. Upon referral, our Admissions Team will verify insurance benefits to determine what is covered.
Under-insured or Un-insured: As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Hospice By The Bay raises funds to ensure that everyone who needs access to our care receives it. Charitable contributions from foundations, individuals and businesses in the communities we serve help us meet the needs of underserved and diverse populations, and support new and innovative Hospice By The Bay programs.
