*Note: The Volunteer Inquiry Form is not an application. Volunteer Services will send an application following a brief screening phone call. Completion of an application and interview are required for all volunteers. All Direct Care positions require completion of a comprehensive training and orientation. Complementary Care volunteers must already be licensed or certified in their field. Other volunteers attend an orientation and are given specific training to the job.

*If you have experienced a recent death of a close family member or significant other or are presently involved with a critically ill family member, consider waiting one year before choosing to volunteer in any of our Patient and Family Support positions. You may participate in non-clinical volunteer service (retail shops, events and special projects). Please discuss your specific situation with a Volunteer Coordinator.

Hospice by the Bay is grateful for the generous amount of time and talent that volunteers contribute to the organization’s activities and in support of Hospice patients and caregivers. Each year, we celebrate all of our community volunteers at a gala reception where exceptional commitment is also recognized with Spirit Awards. All types of volunteers are acknowledged, and past Spirit Award categories have included: Retail Exuberance, Dependability, Creative Generosity, Willingness, Honor, Community, Generosity, and Teamwork.
