Celebrating the Lights in Our Lives
Winter holidays are celebrated with light, the warm glow of each candle or twinkling bulb doing its part to chase away the darkness. At this year’s “Lights of Remembrance” community gatherings in Sonoma and Santa Rosa, our brightly lit trees and candle-lighting ceremonies helped honor or memorialize those who have been lights in our lives.
Along with this year’s 28th annual celebration under the Hospice Tree in Sonoma Plaza, we started what we hope will become a new tradition: partnering with the Lodge at Paulin Creek, a senior residential facility in Santa Rosa, to host a gathering for residents and the public.
The evening was a time to reflect on the passing of loved ones and let their memories shine. Hospice by the Bay Spiritual Support Counselor Constance Blood led the program, which included inspiring messages, the reading of names in memory of loved ones, candle-lighting and “Amazing Grace” with volunteer Michael Carini on the accordion.
